Re: TPI Throttle Plate

The iac housing has a coolant passage in it. But can be modified to bypass the coolant that’s not needed to heat the Throttlebody.

Re: TPI Throttle Plate

Thank you for the response, I do plan on doing the coolant bypass, so I'll do it when I replace the thermostat, and hoses since antifreeze will be drained.

Re: TPI Throttle Plate

Tuned Performance... You talk about modifying the throttle body to bypass the coolant passage. Just curious is there a problem with just taking the throttle body out of the coolant loop or does the throttle body need to be modified.

Thanks

Re: TPI Throttle Plate

Post 5 shows the modifications needed to take the tb out of the coolant system for lt1 or tpi.

Re: TPI Throttle Plate

Okay that post helps but I guess my real question is what is the issue with just disconnecting and cutting the tube ends off.

Thanks

Re: TPI Throttle Plate

No problem with TB,
I am going to replace coolant hoses and thought I would try this bypass in the process and replace the TB top plate with a cool one

Re: TPI Throttle Plate

Sorry to bring this thread back to life, but I just installed a new TB plate. The back of it is smooth however the stock plate looks different. I have not done the coolant bypass on my car and was wondering if I put the new plate on without the coolant bypass will it potentially leak coolant? Hope it's not a dumb question. The stock plate didn't have a gasket and neither does the new one.

With a new gasket I’m sure you would be fine
