89 MAF or 91-92 Speed Density, which way to go.

About 20 years ago I swapped a 92 IROC TPI with ECU 1227727 into my 1976 blazer. Purchased all the tuning toys, Pocket Programmer 2, and the Pocket Romulator. TunerCat, and TunerCatRT, plus Datamaster. Did a couple weeks of tweaking win the Romulator, got it all dialed in and burned a chip. Have been extremely happy the this setup for all these years. Now I'm looking at another project, 71 Toyota FJ40, with a 350SBC.
Also about 20 years ago I scored another IROC Z28 junker. Pulled the 305SBC, TPI, ECU, all the harnesses and sensors. The ECU is a 1227165. The mem-cal inside look just like the 1227727 from my first swap. THe Eprom has the same number of legs on it. I've still got a couple of Machine 10 sockets that I can solder onto the mem-cal.

So for the last 5 years or so, I have been looking for another GM vehicle that ran the same ECU 1227727, to pull the harness, sensors, etc. It seems that most of these vehicles have been crushed by now. So I think my only harness options is a Painless harness.

My question is, which way do I go? I have experience with that MAP/Speed Density systems from 90-92, but I already own the 1989 MAF system. And I think I can just purchase the $6E add on for my TunerCat software. Then solder on a Machine10 socket to the Mem-cal and then run the Pocket Romulator

I am I over simplifying my MAF options?
Am I missing something?
What are the pros/cons of each path?

Larry’s electric has a 730 harness unless your dead set on a underhood ecm Corvette forum can find a used one. The 165 works fine easy to tune just depends on how radical of a build.

Thanks Larry, I'm guessing here, but is the 165, the tech name for the MAF harness that I already have from the 89 IROC? And then the 730 must be the MAP/Speed Density from like a 91-92 IROC?
The FJ40 will have aNV4500 5spd, 350, Vortec Heads, Scoggin Dickey TPI manifold, ram headers. Nothing to wild, just a good ole 4wd.

Might use what you have, apyp bcc and recurve the timing vats delet ect..
the 730 is close to the 727 but used in f body 90-92
or if you go sd this is a affordable option or scope out classifieds on this site.

That hardware and software will work with $6e. Never used tc to log but if you need a historical tables tunerpro rt works well
