‘88 GTA 350 TPI missing when driving then fixed itself???
Ok so I took my fairly new to me ‘88 GTA 350 TPI for a 200 miles round trip. The full take was full leaving then coming back about 1/2 tank. I got about 10min from home and the car started to miss fire and slow. I pulled over and it never shut off. I let it idle for a minute and it was running smooth so I went ahead home. My first guess was the fuel pump overheating as the fuel level dropped and my second guess is ignition module. Anyone here want to guess? I plan to yank the ignition module and get it tested. Then probably check fuel pressure but if the pump is intermittent it may not show anything.
Another side note, temp was around 60deg F and car was running about 180deg (so not overheating in anyway).

Usually the ignition module fails completely, shuts off. I'd check that fuel pressure for sure, maybe time for a new fuel filter. Could be a bit of water in the gas tank too, add some "Dry Gas" and drive it for a while. Weather changes and ethanol gas can actually cause this.

It has a new filter and the previous owner says it has a “high performance” fuel pump. I can tell it’s loud as hell. I think I noted it being more quiet after the “incident” so may be an indicator.
Also:
new Bosch D3 injectors from Southbay
new fuel pressure regulator (internals)

Well folks, a little update. So the previous owner decided to put a “high performance” per him Airtex E3210 special pump. In reading, these things are junk. Probably explains why it failed. Anywho, thanks to the GM engineers for making the fuel tank a PIA to get out. A couple simple things could have been done to make it easier but I digress.
The good news is I have a new Delphi pump ready to go in then just putting it back together.
