5.0 vs 5.7 proms - need help!

I've got an '89 IROC w/ 305/5-speed. I've swapped out my 305 for a 350 and upgraded to 24lb/hr injectors along with some other odds and ends. My question - I'm using the stock 305 PROM - can I use the 350 PROM? I understand that the 350 chip pulls signals from the tranny but I'm not running an automatic. Can I run the 350 chip? Just the stock one - I'm not looking to use an aftermarket chip.

Can I use the 350 chip?!

There are differences between automatic and manual eproms - higher idle speed for one and more aggressive spark advance.

I've made BOTH work on each other (i.e. 305 5/speed BINs to 350 (transplants) and 350 auto to manuals). It's easier in my opinion to change the 305 5-speed eprom to work on a 350 manual than a 350 auto to a 350 manual.

Currently, you are running rich because the eprom thinks you have 19# injectors when you really have 24# (plus more if they are SVO injectors). Generally, most guys just start by adjusting the Injector Constant to match the injectors they are actually running and then "tweak" from there.

Go to the DIY Prom Board if you are interested in learning how you can modify your eprom to make this change. The cost of the equipment is about the same as an aftermarket eprom - and then you can tweak for max power beyond what you will get with an aftermarket eprom.

Just don't ask anyone to burn you an eprom on the DIY Prom Board - that's not allowed. But to make the change is quite simple once you get the equipment.

i'd say it's not allowed most likely because the board is the
"DIY" prom burning bord not the will you burn me a prom board.
besides 1 jerk could blow up a lot of cars if he wanted to be an a,s,s IS that a chance your willing to take?.invest in the equipment and spend some time tuning and it is the best investment you can make and most likely one of the cheapest
pocket programmer--150
auto xray--125
eeproms--20
tunercat >100
total--395
and there are other options to start for less--knowlage is power let others ask you to burn them proms,as for me i trust very few people to tinker with my bins.
