Any pictures of TPI motors with 100% of AIR removed. The pump, and the tubing into the manifolds. Just curious how clean the engine compartment would be.
That's a beautiful engine compartment. What did you do with the tube going to the CATs ?
There is no more smog in NY after 25 years....
Thank you.
I removed it when I refinished the valve covers. Funny you mention that as it was the only AIR part left by the previous owner. IIRC there is a metal clip with a bolt to the firewall that holds the tube in place. You have to remove it from underneath. The tube was just cut off @ the cat. Then I pulled everything up through the top. My check valve was still attached so it won't go out the bottom.

Reason: more info
Yes I did. I can't remember what the threads were but I got them @ my local ACE in the plumbing section so they are nothing special. I did paint them black before I installed them.

Emissions is also federal but yes no one really looks on old cars here, I’m in NY and have had no issues with it as I have all the smog and EGR deleted on my L98 as well.
On my Magnaflow CAT I cut the tube and sealed it near converter port. Seeing as how your catalytic converter sounds like it could use replacing you may be able to find a performance one without the smog tube provision? The only extra step I did was have EGR and AIR tuned out with a new chip.
The plugs for the manifolds were inverted flare or something like that, Edelman makes a good one that fit perfect. There is a part number referenced in a few threads or as Vinny said hit the hardware store.
Pardon my ignorance, but what is the significance of the headlight decal with "1.25%" affixed to the radiator support?
That's a german thing. This is the base setting for the headlight adjusting device. It's needed for garages or our every two year technical inspection we have to pass by law. You may also notice the black metal tag beneath this sticker. It is also recommended for us here. Don't ask me why, I've given up asking myself about stupid law requirements years ago.
I'm liking what I see. I wouldn't even have to tune it to remove AIR. Just all labor, and hopefully removing the AIR tubes into the manifolds. That's what scares me. 35 years of rust.
I wanted to keep it all original, but the bad N10 CAT changed my plans.
I haven't decided yet if I'm gutting the CATs, or going straight pipes.
