TPI head compatibility question

Hello, I just recently purchased a 92 Camaro 5.0 TPI 5 speed. B4C and 1LE code car. I’ve looked through various threads and can’t seem to find a definitive answer, if there is one and I’m missing I apologize and just point me in the right direction. My current head castings are #187 which I’ve read are poorly flowing swirl port heads(?) I believe. I’m looking to find a better cylinder head that I can install with my stock tune port intake. Would an #081 cylinder head off of a marine 305 after so porting work be an upgrade that would still use my current intake set up? The plan is just a head, cam, exhaust build on a “budget” and if #081 heads work, I’ve found a few pairs for pretty cheap money.

Re: TPI head compatibility question

081 are the HO 305 TPI heads they will work

081 flow 185 110, 187 head flow 160 135

are you sure you have 187 castings? in 1992 all 305 regardless of option came with the good 773 305 cam I would of thought your option would come with 081 heads

Re: TPI head compatibility question

May have swapped in a used engine to replace a blownup factory unit

Re: TPI head compatibility question

Is there anywhere else I can look to determine if the engine has been swapped sometime in past without disassembly?

Re: TPI head compatibility question

look at bolts if they are marked up from being removed check the motor mount bolts

because your car starts life as RS it may be correct for it to have the those heads, I can confirm from parting out a 92 305 tpi non g92 did come with the better cam but that was a Z28 dont remember what heads it had
