SLP runner fitment

Hello all

has anyone ever had any issues fitting your slp runners? Or has anyone had issues either the ARP lower intake bolt kit clearing your runners?

I have a set of Afr heads with the stock lower intake manifold. I used the ARP lower intake bolt kit to get rid of the torx button heads since most of my were stripped.

My SLP runners will not clear and fit. Only solution I can think of to get them to fit is to either grind with a file the head of intake bolts. Or grind around the bottom of the runners where it’s hitting the head of the bolt. Just wondering if anyone else has ran into that issue before and what they did to get there runners to fit.

Maybe remove the fuel rail and injectors then reinstall after the runners are in?

Re: SLP runner fitment

Might be an issue with all tpi runners and hex head intake bolts. I didn't want to trim bolt heads and still have an issue or go find the OE torx ones. I had an issue with a set of edelbrock runners but I could sneak them in at the right angle with the injector rail loosened up a little. Made it all the more tedious to assemble the intake. Injectors and rail bolted down, bolt down the intake base, loosen the rail bolts far enough to pry some clearance for the runner, slip runners in their area, retighten the rail while checking for oring or injector seating issues. I'm happier with an HSR for a few reasons and intake install and disassembly ease is definitely on the list.

I don't recall any issues, but I used the factory bolts.

Re: SLP runner fitment

You'll have to grind the bolt heads till they are as short as the factory bolts are. You may even have to clearance the runners a touch.

Re: SLP runner fitment

If the bolts you are referring to are socket head cap screws then yes, they will interfere in a few places. You will have to grind the head and/or runner for more clearance. There is a reason why GM used the torx head pan head bolts on TPI.

Re: SLP runner fitment

Thanks all,

I’ll go ahead and grind down the head of each bolt and touch up the runners a bit to get them to clear.
