Need opinion on poor G Tech performance numbers
Need opinion on poor G Tech performance numbers
Before I start, know that G-Tech is not the end all to perf numbers, but obviously serves as a respectable baseline tester...that being said...I just got my 91 Formula L98 with 114,000 on the road with 4 new Ultra Z 255's, tranny mount and brakes. The car ran a 15.4 @96.8 and a backup run of 15.2 @97.6 on the G-Tech with the normal corrections added in. Yikes!!!! The plugs/wires/fuel filter are *** knows how old, and I have yet to check the FP and TPS, but since most are running 14.5's on avg. stock with this motor, if the plugs wires would really account for almost a full second by themselves or if you all think that it is a combo of problems/issues....any ideas or suggestions are appreciated. I honestly love working on my cars and excited in a weird way to "debug" this thing. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Wow. My moms 97 T-bird will smoke that with no problems at all
Course its faster than my TA too, but anyways.. I'm also assuming it was leveled right and you were on a flat road, that can throw the readings off.
Start with a tuneup. A bad or poorly running car will kill your times and MPH. Do the whole thing, fuel filter, air filter, oil filter, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, set timing, throttle body cleaner down the intake, etc. Beyond that, I have no suggestions. A properly running car in a good state of tune is the only baseline that should be used to check performance, and its environmentally and fuel friendly as well. Once you do all that and check the car again (more than twice would be good) then it may be a good time to start guessing whats amiss if anything.

Wheelspin? This really will throw the figures out.
Actually, they will be correct, but a little bit of spin knocks
a full second off my trucks 0-60, from 5.6 to 6.6 seconds!!!!!
Cheers
