I am lookin to relplace my stolen IROC and i found a great deal on a blue 1989 IROC with a 5-speed and the 305 TPI. HOwever, I want to replace the engine with a Gm Performance 350 H.O. engine and want to know what i would need to make the switch over still using the TPI system. Also, what kind of power would i make with this setup wiht all stock pieces since it is supposed to make 330 HP wiht a carb and headers. Please Help me!!!

 

You will need a prom for a 350, and also need a different knock sensor. (also for the 350). Larger injectors would be in order as well. That should do it for the engine.

You will want to check the tranny, if that is a World Class T-5, it should live quite happily behind the 350, if not, you may wanna look at an upgrade. (I am unsure of the exact differences between the two, but, the WC trans has a heavier, better reinforced case.)

I can't give you an exact number on HP, but, I would suspect that you won't get over 300, simply because of the restriction in the TPI system. But, it will still be a respectable motor.....

Thanx alot for the info, eventually i plan to put all high-flow components on the intake and port the plenum and bigger throttle body. Hopefully this get me up to the 330 atleast. Also what size injectors do u suggest and what exactly is the prom, is that just the chip that is placed inside the ECM? Sorry if i sound stupid.
