Engine Rebuild

I was wandering if anyone has gotten a late 80's 350 tpi rebuilt. Im looking for advice on whether getting my engine rebuilt or just dropping in a new crate engine. Anybody have any idea on the cost of a rebuild with aftermarket headers, runners, and cam.

well it all depends on how much cash you have to spend on this. you can pick up a good crate motor for around $3000-3500 maybe less. It is cheaper to build it yourself but some people donthave the time or knowledge/ confidence to do this. I will add up a basic rebuild right quick.
Bore block: 8x$8 a hole=$64
Turn Crank: $65
Clean Block: $30
Cam: "basic" we'll say $175
Bearings: main/rod $ 80
Rings: "moly" $45
Pistons: "Keith Black" $175
Freeze plugs: $15
Gasket kit: "fel-pro" $35
headers: edelbrock $320
runners: $270
which equals =$1274 after tax a bit more than $1300.
all the maching prices are what it cost down here in Houston

You could always buy a summit rebuild kit for $200
then add the runners, headers for $590
then the machining (about) $170
which equals = $960 after tax and all somewhere around $1000
these are just a few ways of doing it. a few others will proabably be posted.
