Mods to do before I get N2O

I plan on getting a Nitrous Express kit for my car soon when I have plenty on time to do it right(College Student). So what would be some good mods to do to my car before the N2O. Another question I have is that I made a cold air intake from Home Depot stuff, will I be able to use this or will I have to put the stock intake back on. My mods are in my signature. Thanks.

since you are in college, id recommend getting something a little less dangerous than NO2. one wrong slip with nitrous and boom, there goes your daily driver.

First off I'm going to make it as safe as possible. If it something does break its not the end of the world. I can bum rides off friends, ride my bike to school which takes about 20 minutes, or I could ride the bus. So I can get by if anything goes wrong.

from a fellow college student to a college student, buy N2O! Just buy an inline pump, and a good ignition system (msd, plugs, good wires) and you are set for 100 more hp and 150 more ft lbs.

The most important thing is top make sure you do not lean out the motor when you hit the nos. I not sure if they mkae some sort of FMU for the nitrous, but I would try to find one. You somehow need to add fuel when you hit the nos. I would also only go with the 75 shot on the stock motor. A guy I know from high school put it on his 89 camaro, with no tuning. He used it all the time just to burn rubber and screw around. The motor lasted about a month. Hope this helps

Any suggestions on the inline pump, brand, etc.? For the ignition an MSD 6AL work good or is there something that would do a better job?

Don't be scared of Nitrous. I did a bigger pump, injectors, and an AFPR for fuel and a new pickup coil, coil, wires, and plugs. And MSD box is a good idea. Get a window switch (has an RPM window that the nitrous fires in so it will not go to low or to high) you don't want to use it under about 3,000rpm's and over about 5500rpm's. Also use one-step colder burning spark plugs (just get the part # you are using now and ask the parts counter for the next coldest heat range). Also I think a fuel pressure gauge and N2O gauge are a good idea so you can keep an eye on things.

PS-Your intake should be fine.

One more thing in line pumps are easy to install but very loud. I use a wlalbro255lph in tank and it works great and about $90. I have seen people cut an access panel in the trunk to get to the to of the tank and use JB weld to seal it back (i didn't like that idea but it took my buddy about 1/5 of the time it took me).

Would an ignition retard module on the MSD box that retards the timing a couple degrees when he hits the bottle be beneficial in his situation?

I'm trying to learn for the day I put nitrous in.

its not so much as being afraid of nitrous, theres nothing to be afraid of since it doesnt actually combust by itsself. im not trying to be the "oh no dont ever use nitrous" guy, because i absolutely love the stuff, im just sayin it sucks being in college broke and then to have your engine blow up would be even worse. i hate bumming rides as im sure most anyone does. but if you are going to do it, go with a heat range colder than stock on spark plugs, and my favorite ignition box is the jacobs pro street. you might want to also look at a jacobs nitrous mastermind, thats almost a foolproof way to not blow your engine up with nitrous.
