Opti-Spark alternatives??

I have a 94 LT! I'm swaping into my 75 Jimmy, are their any alternatives to using the Opti-Spark and keeping the GM EFI system?
I thought about drilling out the intake and using a TPI distributer.
Is this possible with the LT1 computer or would I have to run a TPI computer and harness?

Thanks,
Chad

I believe you'd have to use a TPI computer because the LT1 computer relies on the low-res and high-res signals for injection timing (and spark) signals.

If you don't want the opti, mod the intake for a distributor and use a '730.

A '730 is the ECM from a MAP TPI engine. Many people are using them successfully with miniram engines, which is very similar to the LT1. They're also very tunable with the proper equipment (scan tool, programmer, EEPROM).

You can convert to an Eloctromotive Coil Pack system, about $1200 I think. Looks very sweet. Has 4 coils, 1 Coil for 2 cylinders. My friend has this setup on his 95 formula.

Opti Spark isn't all that bad, it's easy to replace if it goes bad.
Only took my brother 3 hours to do on his 96 Trans Am.

Do you have any info or links on the coil pack conversion?
My problem is that I wheel my truck alot, if I get the dist a little wet in a creek I can just pull the cap off and wipe it out. With the Opti-Spark its no longer a short trail fix....its a tow it back to camp ruin your weekend fix! LOL
The 730 does'nt sound like a bad alternative though.I'm going to keep the motor pretty stock accept for maybe a little more stroke.

Thanks for all the info.
