Need advice on removing A/C and other stuff from engine bay...
My overall goal is to clean up the engine bay for easier accesability to the engine.
This summer/spring I want to remove all my A/C gear, install a non-ac heater box, and removing all the other AIR crap on the passenger side of the engine bay. I pretty much know how to remove all the A/C stuff so thats no big deal, but I need advice on getting rid of the AIR system and the other hoses over there.
As for removing the AIR, what all do I have to get rid of? Will I need to change the chip so that the car will run right? The AIR tubes on my headers will be coming off and the holes are getting welded in. Ill be putting Hooker LT's on that dont come with AIR tubes anyway so the system is going to get defeted anyway. Emmisions isnt a concern as I am re-registering the car in Michigan where they dont have emmisions testing. I just want the car to run as well after the removal of all this stuff as before, thats why im wondering if the chip needs to be changed. My cat is already gutted BTW.
I also want to get rid of the octopus and heater tubes that come out to the end of the valve cover over there but I want to keep my heat. This is what nobody can really tell me how to modify and still have my heat work. Is there any way to get rid of that octopus thingy and keep my heat working??? I havent worked on a lot of new EFI cars, but all the older carb cars and muscle cars ive ever seen dont have anything like that (or maybe they do its just somewhere else). How can I clean up all those hoses and everything while keeping my heat working???? Anyone have pics of this stuff removed but still have heat on the car???
Final question, instead of running a non-ac dummy pully and the AIR pully, can i just remove both, get a shorter belt and re-route the belt so it only goes around the crank, waterpump, power steering, alternator, and tensioner??? Thanks for the help everyone. I need to clear this clutter out, its driving me nuts. I hate working where I cant see.
Also, is there a FAQ for any of this stuff, and if not, somebody should make one.

as you can see from the pic there is no way to remove the AC and tention the belt without the dummy pulley
as for the smog pump.....just remove it the computer wont care much....Glen can help more but the impact on performance is minimal. The heat is another thing...octopus??????
