fuel pressure at 30 PSI

Hooked the fuel pressure gauge up to ma car today and it was reading 30 PSI(supposed to be over 40 PSI right?)... Is this probly a bad fuel pump? or by any slim chance the fuel filter? or sumthing else maybe?

You need to unhook the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator to get an accurate reading. Try that and see what you get. Or did you already do that?

Fuel Pressure

IT sounds as though the pump has went south. But do yourself a favor and check the filter first. If you do replace the pump look into the Holley pump. I replaced both the pumps in my truck a few months ago with the high volume units from Holley. It has made all the difference in the world especially at top higher speeds. Let us know how it comes out. The pumps are around $140.00ea.!

Same thing happened to me. With a few hours of work and $5 for a new hi-performance Fuel Pump strainer from NAPA, i was good as new. Does the pressure drop when you rev it? If so, that's what happened to me.

How does the car run otherwise? If your FP can't maintina pressure at no load, it should completely die at WOT.

My point is, unless you seem to have a major fuel problem, i doubt that guage is accurate. You'd notice it.

If your fuel pressure really is that low than the opther guys are right, could be a pump, strainer, even as simple as a clogged filter.

Its actually been running really horrible, when im driving it, the car hesitates and seems like its starving for fuel when i give it gas cept for sometimes while at WOT it wants to go right at certain RPM's between 2500 and 4000 usually then it dies off again when its abotu to shift...soemtimes it never runs right though....im gonna change the filter tomarrow....
