Heads & Cam

I know this question has been asked before but what is a good "heads & cam" set up? I blew a head gasket and want to know what are some good heads to put on? I figure while I do the heads might as well do a cam also.(proubly going to do the bottom end also) but for now heads and cam. With the new heads and better than stock springs do you think that I should go with the 1.6 rockers?

Well man, reguardless of what u pick u'll see some nice gains, however i feel the best on the market are the Air Flow Research heads, there expensive but u'll see the best gains out of them over any other head and i'm sure alot of people will agree with me.. but agian thats if u have $$, becuase just like the old rule says, u get what u pay for.. the edelbrock cylinder head line is good also, there doable.. world products makes a good line of heads and for some good prices, but whatever u pick make sure it has 2.02x1.60 valves.. As for cams, alot of guys go with the LT4 cam, its a .525x.525 lift (something like a 232 duration but i'm not positive on that, u'll have to check that) but if u use this i'd use the 1.5rr's, very nice and will breathe very well, other than that if u dont get that i'd keep it alot those lines, maybe a .50 lift if ur gonna get the 1.6rr's, that'll keep it at a max lift of around .52's.. and look for a duration of approx 230's-240's.. that'll get ur camaro rockin' very nice.. as a final option u could choose a cylinder head that u like and call up Crane Cams, or some cam company and ask them what they think for a cam size, those guys love to chat about cars.. ok good luck man, mike

I like them alot. The TF's have a new design from about a year ago from what summit said. When I went down to summit They had a comparrison chart and a dyno test. They tested 4 heads on a 383 TF's , AFR, Iron eagle, and Edelbrock. Even though summit makes TF they said the AFR's beet out the TF's by only 3 HP , but in return they said that the AFR's were about $600 more.

Someone on another site posted flow numbers for the TFS CNC and AFR 190. The AFR 190 only flowed 4cfm more then the TFS CNC heads. And like you said, it was 3-4 hp less but $600 cheaper.
