ran out of gas, now won't start!
hey guys, need help badly.
car ran out of gas, well, seems like it anyways, i was low on gas (my gas gauge doesn't work worth a darn) and all of a sudden engine shut right off! it just shut off, no noises or anything... weird hey?
so I put $7 worth of gas into the tank.... tried priming the pump and it wont's tart. In fact I don't even think the fuel pump is starting cuz i don't hear the usual humming noise when i try to start it.
what are some things I can try? where is fuel pump fuse?
thanks guys.
garett
PS: how much would a new fuel pump/gauge sender relay cost me? my gas gauge doesn't work, i'm assuming it's the fuel sender? can someone tell me basically how the fuel system works starting at the tank? just some basics.
thanks again.

There is a fuel pump fuse up beside the battery, it is inline in a wire, with a small cover.
If the pump does not run, check the relay. It should "click" on for about 2-3 seconds then click "off" when the key is turned to the run position. (may need a second pair of hands for this.)
Could be your pump has died though. I spend just under 500 bucks to have the sending unit, and pump replaced, but, as I was an employee at the dealer at the time, I got a good price on the parts........
