Fuel rail leaking
Hello,
I have been going through the tear down for a re & re on the TPI lower manifold intake gasket (leaked oil) and am now at the point where I have re-installed the fuel rail and tested for fuel leaks.
Sure enough there is a fuel leak at the number 8 injector location (passenger side rear).
I should point out that I had removed all 8 injectors for backflush cleaning.
When I was re-installing the injectors to the rail the #8 would not fit very easily so I sprayed some silicon lube on it. None of the other injectors are leaking, just the one I sprayed.
Does anyone know if this will account for a fuel leak ? Also, I replaced all rubber grommets and rail clips with brand new pieces, these installed without incident.
thx in advance,
RP.

I would think that maybe your fuel rail/injectors were in a bind and you didn't get the #8 to seat properly. Also, although maybe a bit pricey and a pain I would use only GM o-rings on your injectors. Even though you can go to a NAPA and get about the same size o-rings....... they just aren't the same as the big blue beefy GM o-rings.
I would take it off and try again.

Also did you put some oil on the O-ring before you seated the fuel rail down? That is a must do trick to help seat the injector in the manifold. I had mine off and back on again this winter. Just got it running last sat, no leaks. Second time I had the fuel rail off. I used the same O-rings this time. Replaced them the first time with GM pieces. They are not that pricey, worth it IMO.
Looks like your rail is coming off again. Just be carefull seating it down, and try to torque the 4 bolts holding the assy down in an even pattern. Steady as she goes!
