Wiring Question
Wiring Question
I was wondering if I could get some diagram/pinouts for the attached image. It is the plug under the passenger side dash. The harnes is from an 87 Formula 350 TPI. My nearly 2 year project is coming to an end here, all help is mucho appreciated!

Buy a $12 Chilton's manual. You'll need it later on anyway. It has the wiring diagrams.
That plug looks like the ones that supplies 12 v to injectors, fuel pump, etc.

Here's a question, since I can't tell from the pic; is Pin A a Brown wire? It should be (if it's the harness I'm thinking of)
A= brown
B=red/black
C=brown/white
D=tan/white
E=white/black
etc... is this the plug?
Monte thanks for helping me out here. I need to know where they go individually. I am wiring this plug into an LG4 car 86
A-Brown
B-Orange
C-Brown/White
D-Tan/White (largerwire)
E-White/Blk
F-Pink/Blk
G-Blk/Purple
H-Tan/Blk
J-Orange
K-Brown
L-(no wire)

Allrighty then, here goes...pay attention class!
This took me a bit of time to dig out, and was very valuable when we did my TPI swap two years ago.
A- goes to Pin C on ALDL
B- ALDL Pin G and fuel pump relay Pin D
C- SES light
D- to FP/ MAF relay
E- Pin B ALDL
F- ENG CNL fuse
G- from Gauge fuse; feeds air select valve, canister purge, AIR diverter, EGR
H- ALDL Pin F & TCC
K- to VSS
M- ground for lots 'o stuff
N- to gear selector switch
P- brake switch to TCC
R- CRK fuse to Cold Start Inj. and switch

Well tha past couple days I have accomplised a few things. Changed gas tank and kick down cable.
Changed Y-Pipe and heater core tube today. Also, chopped off cat end and getting end replaced for the 3" TPI Y- pipe.
D@#! Star heads (runners and plenum)! (Had to curse them) Getting regular socket bolts so I can finish the runners, plenum, and valve covers, etc. up tomorrow and cat. Hopefully do some wire probing tomorrow without battery.
HOPING to attempt a start at least by saturday.

Hey, how was the sending unit in that TPI Tank you swapped in? I have a brand-new one in the box if you're interested.
When we did the TPI swap in my Monte, the dealer I ordered my parts from sent me that one, and I didn't know it wouldn't fit in my tank until 6-months later. Those rat bastards wouldn't take it back and stuck me with a $400 sending unit.
Any takers? $250 shipped to anywhere in the continental US!

OUCH BABY VERY OUCH! $400!
Mine better be good. I was hoping to use my old sending unit because I knew it worked, but it was way different. I did use my old tank as the donar tank had rotten gas inside and a couple chunks. If mine doesnt work, I have NO intentions of changing it out anytime soon after that PITA tank swap. I did put in a new pump.

I gave 12volts to the injectors, cold start valve, fuel pump, and ecm. I have spark at plugs, but engine did not fire.
Was wondering where EXACTLY to run the wire from the fuel pump (tan/white)? I probed the large tan/white wire under the passenger side dash (common FP contact PIN-D) and it did not light during cranking or while ignition in run. Is this the correct location for the fuel pumpwire? If so, is there any reason why the test light is not lighting up during cranking on pin D?
Do the injectors ground at th ECM, if not then where do they ground? I dont think they are doing anything and I know they are getting 12 volts.
TOMORROW I PRAY IS THE DAY!

The injectors do not ground at the ECM (according to my pic that breaks down the ECM connectors). Rather, the signal is fed through the ECM, and uses the ECM grounds that go to the back of the engine block.
Good luck! I'm no electrical engineer, so hopefully this does it for ya. I would really recommend buying the GM book for the car too. Its the Electrical Diagnosis book (Sevice Manual Supplement) for 1987 Camaros. It's really the most helpful thing I did when I swapped in the TPI, believe me!

what are you putting this in Fcar? as far as the fuel pick up, when I did my monte (orig carb) I just modified the pickup using the stock one took 2 good hose clamps and clamped the fuel pump to the original pick up tube, and put the filter on the bottom, I think I had to trim the bottom of the pick up right after it bends (just cut it off) used the old pick up as the new return line after I tightened the hose clamps I bent the remaining tail over the top of the tightener (if there is a technical term for the screw I dont know it) that way it wouldnt back out, its been operating like this for 4 years now and no problems ::knock:: on wood!
