700 to t56 swap.
I was wondering what you swappers have run into trouble wise when swapping in the t56. I've got pedals, master and slave cylinders, bellhousing, etc. including the trans...t5 out of an 86 z that was unfortunately sent to the bone yard...what else might i need minus the clutch, flywheel, and trans????i'm going crazy trying to see if it's a cost effective swap...motor going in is a modded LT1 spec. 357

is the tranny a T-56 of a T-5? cause at first you say t-56 but later u mention a t-5 out of a 86 z!

i've got the t-5 and all associated parts out of the 86....i want to put the t56 in and from what i've heard(correct me if i'm wrong) the t56 drops in, ie. keep the bellhousing ect. I know i can keep the driveshaft and crossmember, i'm worried about the bellhousing forward, even though the motor has an LT1 crank, would i be better off getting an LT1 bellhousing???

If you want to be able to use your driveshaft and torque arm, you have to get an LT1 bellhousing from a '93-'97 4th gen. You can reuse a T5 bellhousing with an adapter plate, but this makes the transmission sit back slightly farther, requiring you to shorten your driveshaft and tq arm. If you do a search on "T56 swap", you'll get more info than you ever wanted to know about this swap.

try heading over to www.skulte.com. there is a page there that points out everything you need for the swap. also try this site:http://www.sethirdgen.org/t56.htm
the biggest trouble i think may be drilling the holes for the master/slave cylinder in the firewall.you have to get them in the right spot for it to work right.
