4th gen rear end

i have an 86 ta, and i was wanting to get a 4th gen rear end to put on there for several reasons. one for the limited slip, another for a little higher gear ration (2.73 now, to a 3.42) until i can afford 3.73 and the other reason for the extra width so i can put 4th gen rims on (which i already have). so my question is what mods do i have to do. i have drum brakes now in the rear, can i get disc or should i stick with drums. i know i have to get the ebrake cable, but what else would i need. i would like to go disc in the back, but if it takes a whole lot more work to make them work, then i am just gonna get drums again. and also does it matter whether or not if the rear end comes off of a v-6 or v-8.
i would greatly appreciate replys soon because i am going to super chevy this weekend and hopefully i will find one there if i know what i need.
thanks,

aaron
