I am not positive, but i think the clutch pedal, master cylinder, slave cylinder, and reservoir are the same. But I know the clutch disc, pressure plate, and i think the fork are different.

=)

that helps.

Thanks:hail: :hail: :hail:
I was hoping the fork would work but that is ok. I was pretty sure the fly wheel and clutch plates were different.

The entire pedal setup and hydraulic setup is identical. I used all my V6 equipment when I swapped a V8 in to my car.

I can't for the life of me remember if the fork is different or not. I don't remember it being visibly different, but I don't have the V8 trans any more to check.

Clutch assembly is definitely different (flywheel, clutch disc, pressure plate). Bellhousing is different.

I have a tranny out of an 85 V6 car, and need to know if I can use it for a V8 car. Basically I'm asking because I know the input shaft is a different spline count and size, and takes a different size clutch. Does anyone know if anyone makes a clutch setup that will work, or if the shaft can be changed out to the size the V8 clutch calls for?

As far as the V6 tranny behind the v8, I have changed my tune as to whether it can or can't be done. At least one person proved me wrong, and here was his method:

Use a V8 bellhousing bolted to the V6 tranny. Use a V8 flywheel, and V8 pressure plate. Then either use a V6 clutch disc, or have the center hub removed from a V6 clutch disc and have it welded in the center of the V8 disc.

So yes, it can be done. It seems pointless to me, though, because the V6 transmissions are weaker and their gearing is not terribly suited to a V8, as well as the fact that the hybrid clutch is likely to break (if welded poorly) or won't hold well (if the smaller diameter disc is used).

You're REALLY better off just getting a V8 tranny.
