3.27 9 bolt to 3.73 10 bolt (changing housing ??'s)

Hi Guys

My buddy has a 3.27 9 bolt in his 87 Trans-am with disc brakes.
I found him a 10 bolt with 3.23's with disc brakes as well but I was just thinking i have a spare 3.73 posi 10 bolt rear with drum brakes in my garage. what I want to know is:

Can we take his disc brake stuff off his 9 bolt and install it on my
10 bolt and put that in his car?

HA!!!

To answer the question, no. 9 bolt and 10 bolt brake backing plates cannot interchange.

This is true...

Maybe I should have said:
"9 bolt and 10 bolt brake backing plates cannot interchange...without metal undergoing some kind of a phase change."

Thanks guys

I have dropped that Idea I did find a 10 bolt disc brake rear, just going to change the whole thing. Anyone interested in a 9 bolt posi with disc brakes and 3.27 gears?
