Lately my car has been acting up. in 3rd gear and nailing it the car will downshift scream and the rpms will go up but the car pulls very slow then all of a sudden it seems like something releases and the car takes off at 4000 rpm/ but other times when the car is at operating temp it'll be perfect and take off as soon as i hit it. then at some other times i'll hit it and it'll scream but the car wont move. Think my tranny is messed up? slipping? When i manually shift it (once in a blue moon) it'll be perfect. it still chirps 1st gear and shifts perfect under normal load. but getting kicked back into 1st gear at 3000 and higher RPM the car acts up. any suggs? Car downshifts fine its just it doesnt go anywhere. TV cable is adjusted and is also brand new. Thanks

 

I would post this on the tranny board it would be a tranny problem could be a valve sticking in the tranny somewere but you would get more help in that forum.

 

well if i were you I would make plans for a new tranny, it sounds like you tranny is going out, 700r4's are famous for the 3rd and 4th gear going out. When your third, goes out all you really can do is shift it manuelly, you can drive 2nd up to like 50-55 maybe more, your car will be screaming but that will get you home.

 

True. I basically dont have a 3rd gear it goes 1st to 2nd to 3rd for less then a sec then into overdrive at 35mph.
