Does anyone know what would cause that?

slip in shift most likely from period of time with misadjusted tv cable.... 2-3 shift is usualy the affected shift in that case.
adjust it so its got tension at WOT

Just out of curiosity, what motors are you guys running? Most everyone I talk to that has tranny issues runs a 350 or very stout 305 and generally runs a mid 14 or quicker. Everyone that has a million mile 700R4 has a 305 and usually never runs. I blew up 2 700R4's, first at 108 thou and the second 16 thou later.

A few issues I see here that need to be cleared up.
The transmission fluid does circulate to the cooler when the converter is NOT locked up!
The B&M kit isnt too bad it's just people dont install them correctly but that happens with most kits. The Major advantage of a TransGo kit is that it FIXES problems with the 700r4. The B&M just makes the transmission SHIFT harder. Supposedly the "Superior" brand Kit fixes problems also.
I installed a B&M kit friday in an 86 V6 Camaro. "not mine, I use TransGo in my 82, 83 700r4 in it."
The 86 shifts fine under normal driving, allthough it holds 2nd gear a bit longer then the stock calibration but not as long as the Fairbanks kit held my brothers tranny in second. DONT USE FAIRBANKS KITS! Under WOT shifts the kit shifts very hard, actually firmer then TransGo. The shifts are positive and quick like TransGo shifts just firmer.
Conslusion: If you have to go through all the trouble of installing a kit, it just makes more sence to install one that fixes a problem. It just seems everyone is GungHo to spend every dime they can on an engine but when it comes to a transmission they get cheap real quick. I personally would rather have an engine drop then a transmission.

The one kit comes with a Jr. Shift kit that modifies the 1/2 accumulator the other does not.

The more expensive of the two kits come with the Jr. S/K. Probuilt makes it easy and sells the two kits combined at a fraction of the cost compared to some other places. I know ACT in Denver sells the Jr. alone for $80.
Yep thats the price I paid for my Jr kit. The install is fairly easy plan a solid day to do it or a weekend just take your time and follow instructions.

When you buy a TransGo kit from Probuilt you get both the 2/3 improvement kit & the jr kit, as well as a corvette servo. As far as all components influencing the shift modifications, accumulator modifications, & servo.... they can be installed, with all required drilling & plugging, while the trans is in the car. Also included are some pump modifications & hi-rev clutch springs that only can be installed with the trans removed & partially disassembled.
As to other modifications for the 700r4 for improved durability, go to transonline.com & get into the 700r4 section...very extensive. Many modifications are actually factory upgrades that can be applied to earlier tranmission. Probably the most signifcant modification is to the 3/4 clutch pack. In my case, everything in my trans was lovely except the 3/4 clutches. The mods to the 3/4 consist of increasing the number of friction disks. There are many possiblites out there that are used, everyone with their special set-ups. Time will tell if my set-up gives the durability life required.
