OK...here goes!

Well this may be a bad way to start my first post here, but here goes. I have been a GM tech since '89, and have rebuilt a fair share of tranny's (mostly Fwd though). I have recently rebuilt the 700R4 in my Camaro, rebuilt front pump, raybestos clutches, new steels, replaced all soft seals, and added a 2,400 B&M Holeshot 12" lock-up converter, trans already had a B&M shift-kit installed. My problem is: Extremely delayed 4th gear engagement, and then when it does engage, the trans feels to be also engaging another gear ALL other gears and shifts are ok, upshifting & downshifting, as well as manual braking & T/C lock-up(in 3rd). I have double checked t/v adjustment, fluid level etc. My best guess is that I may have F'd up the 4th servo piston seal. Any ideas on things I should check, before or during teardown This one has me kinda stumped.......help

hey man..heh sorry to hear first of all..servo seal sounds quite possible...I personally would have checked to make sure all of the seals were working, if you didnt already do that before installing the tranny....It couldnt be something like a check ball? there's lots of different check ball alterations out there that ive seen.
or maybe just look into another tranny...where I live they're a dime a dozen..just a thought.

I'm pretty sure it's not a check ball, there is only 5 now, and when installing the valvebody with the trans upside down it's pretty easy(especially when it's all dry...much easier to goop them in and have them stay) ...but well worth the look. I'll check the 3-4 accumulator while I'm there...but usually a F'd acc. will cause a crappy 2-3 shift or slip-delay also.
