V6 to V8 swap, but what kind of tranny to put in it?
1992 RS that came with a stock V6 5 spd. I am putting in a V8 350 that maked over 350 hp and 400 ft/lbs of torque. Now I know that the stock V6 5spd is not an option, but will a T5 from a V8 work? Or will a T56 work and bolt up to everything pretty nicely?
I do plan on a new driveshaft, and new gears for the rear end, but I am worried about buying a trans that will break under the pressure. I do plan on taking this project car to the strip when I am finished.
All of the advice would be appreciated.

A 400 ft/lb motor's gonna be pretty hard on a T5 rated at 300 ft/lb.It'll live if you don't abuse it, but what fun is that?
T56 is a good way to go, as it's rated for the torque and has one more gear. This is becoming a very popular swap in thirdgens.
Search the archives for T56 swaps.
I currently have a 350 in front of a T5, but plan on replacing it with something stronger soon, probably a Tremec TKO.
