The right way to do this is to get a V8 trans; use a v8 clutch; get a 83-85 305 flywheel, and have it "unbalanced" to the 400 spec; use a V8 bell housing from a F car; and have the block drilled for the V8 F car starter. Use new flywheel and clutch bolts; especially clutch bolts, they're special ones somewhat like starter ones are, garden variety bolts (even regular grade 8 ones) are wrong and will not work right. Do it once, put it together, drive it hundreds of thousands of miles with no problems or failures.

NAH................

theres a reason this is called hot rodding

i will take payment in a white evelope in small unmarked bills, jk

in reality though, let me know if it works out ok, i don't mean to use you guys as crash test dummies for this disk, the reason i have yet to order one is due to being a little short on cash, right at the moment i am waiting on a flywheel, if the damn money order would ever get to the guy,

you hit it on the nail head man, we (you me and others) don't have the right tranny for one reason or another, mine is cuz they seem to be very scarce here in eastern iowa, just like flywheels are for my application, and if someone has one they don't wanna give it up

i have faith in my non-worldclass 4 cylinder! t5, its just like anything else in the world if you treat it nice most of the time it will last, sure i'm gonna beat it once and a while, but from the looks of things we have the clutch problems solved for us IMPROVISORS, or corner cutters, as rb83l69 seems to think we are

peace

Yeah i know what you mean all of the junkyards around me dont have any v8 t-5's, they say they could get one but the cheapest on is 650 bucks which seems like a rip off to me ill just get my v6 t-5 to work with the clutch disk you found and a 10.4 inch pressure plate with the 305 flywheel and t-5 bellhousing and baby the hell outta it on the weekdays then when the weekends roll around ill let it rip a little. I cant see paying 650 bucks when i could save about 600 more and get a 6 speed or maybe even a tremec.

ok, i ordered the 10 inch one

only because the 10.5 is .10 too big and i'm worried it mite not fit

i am putting the rear end in tommorow

then next week i should have the tranny in

i wont be able to drive it though, because it'll still need exhaust and a clutch pedal

wish me luck guys

well let us know how it works out, and i think you prolly could have gotten away with using the 10.5,

.1 inches really isn't much, if you think about it its only.05 more radius, which the naked eye prolly can't even pickup, and from the clutches i have seen they are a little wavy on the edge anyways

part number 270820 it is the 200 series disk, organic facing on both sides, 10.5in dia, 1in x 14 splines, $83.33

that is the cheapest version, it won't give me a price for the 100 series,

unless i here something that says i shouldn't use it.

thats the one i am gonna get, as soon as i get some cash,

i have a brand new 14 inch 400 flywheel still in the box, and i also picked up a 12 3/4 cast iron 153 tooth flywheel for a 305 or 350 at super chevy couple weeks ago, then i decided i didnt want to take the chance of having it shatter so i sucked it up and bought an expensive steel 12 3/4 one that is at the machine shop getting balanced. I dont think you really want the old rusty cast iron flywheel ive got it would need to be resurfaced and everything, you should be able to find one really cheap, i picked this one up for 10 bucks at the super chevy show in norwalk ohio.
