T5 is studdering in 1st gear...
...when I am letting the clutch out from a stop. I am thinking that something is going wrong but I do not have any idea. I am not that technically incline but I do know a little. I also get a vilant jerk when I let off the gas in low gear. Do you think that these are related or is my tranny just going bad. I have about 75,000 miles on it and have not been that rough on it although it has seen a few passes down the strip. Any help would be greatly appreciated I am not looking forward to being stuck one day in the middle of nowhere.

sounds more like you have clutch to flywheel shudder rather than something wrong with the trans. if you replace the clutch disc, be sure to have the flywheel surfaced.

hmm, you just buy a clutch disc but don't buy one based on my recommendation, I have not seen/felt your car firsthand.

So there are no recommmened brands or no particular size that I am looking for. That is really what I am asking since I have no idea what I am looking for since this is the first time around.

oh i see, check out jegs or summit's catalogs, they have several brands. i had bad luck with a ram clutch and since it blew up, i switched to a hayes and have had no trouble. i can't remember the size off the top of my head, anyone know? the catalogs have a pretty good description of what you'll need. Centerforce is also a reputable brand but I have no experience with them.

a 10.5" x 26 spline is what you need. Ive got a Centerforce Dual Friction in mine and absolutely love the damn thing, its got awesome holding power, and Ive put it through hell and it keeps on holding. my last clutch would have been slipping about 1000 miles ago. some people have problems with them, but I havent had any.

TexasLT1 that is exactly what I was looking for. Tom84L69 did you buy that clutch kit Hays offers? Cause that is one I was look at as well at the Centerforce. With the Centerforce what else am I going to be looking at getting. I know the throwout bearing but anything else? Any bolts or special tools? Thanks again for all of the help guys.

actually i bought the ram clutch setup from summit and i think it was the oem replacement. after 2 summers, the disc came apart/exploded. i replaced just the disc and left the pressure plate alone. the disc is a hayes street/strip, also from summit. my mistake was when i did not surface the flywheel, last i drove her, she shuddered so bad the whole body/chassis shook like crazy.
i am now looking at a jegs catalog and after texasLT1 told us the right size, i can see that my disc is part #490-40-121.
I'm sure you wouldn't need any special tools for the centerforce, any help here texas?
