My stock one with 3.27 gears was pushing high 11's and 1.7x 60 foot times with no problems.

I have been running mine for almost 4 years behind my big block with no problems. There is an article posted at www.9bolt.com (from Hot Rod magazine) that compares a 9 bolt to a Dana 44. It's a great choice for something between a wimpy 10 bolt and the very expensive (~3000+ with brakes, drive shaft, ujoints, etc....) 9 inch or 12 bolt.

Complete 9 inch (less brakes) from Moser ~2200
Brakes ~250
Drive shaft w/ 1350 yokes ~350
Shipping ~200
As with anything, the more creative, the more skills, the more friends, the more tools, etc.... that you have the cost can be reduced.

$858.00 Axles & F body housing w/ torque arm bracket
$150.00 Used center section
$160.00 3.70 Ring & pinion
$ 25.00 9.5" used 88 Caprice brakes
$18.00 NAPA conversion ujoint
$25.00 Misc fitting & brake lines
$45.00 shipping
Total $1256.00
I'm sure someone else could be more creative than me. If you can find a used center section with the gears you want, subtract $160.

Miles, I have a 9 bolt too and I think it is ok into the 12's...especially if the car is street driven as well...
However, I read the Hot Rod article on your site and here is the only text I found referring to the rearend...
"Serious big-block power could also wreak havoc with the rearend. An automatic will cushion the rearend somewhat, but you may have to consider installing a Dana 44 or a 12-bolt with an aftermarket mount kit such as those available from Summers Brothers."
This doesn't exactly sound like a comparison of rear ends to me...
Let me know if I looked at the wrong article...
Thanks,

My bad Miles...thanks for the help.
Is there any other factory or aftermarket documentation on this rear end? Just curious that the review you have appears to be the only info...
