Transgo Install/Rebuild Question

I took my transmission to the shop today and talk to the guy who actually rebuilds the transmission and he told me that its not really neccessary to install the Transgo Reprogram Kit if you have no intention of manually shifting the trans. I thought that this kit also help make modification to the transmission that will correct the problems of the pre-87 700 R4. Right now he is installing a Transgo (NoYoYo SYSOKOKAL 700-D), .500 Vette Servo. Since this car will be mostly street driven is it essential that I use the Reprogramming Kit or will my tranny lack something by not installing it. He is also rebuilding the tranny.
Last Question: A little confusion with this other guy... He tried to tell me that TQ will not pull until it reach it Stall Torque. In other words he was saying that with a 3000 Stall Converter,(which I plan on using from Pro-Built), if im at a red light I will have to bring my car to 3000 rpm before it would move. I have read on numerous post that a stall will flash at it set Stall and will act as a normal converter until its reaches the stall 3000 Stall. Is this correct or did I miss something?

Open for opinions and recommendation, especially for what stall will be the best for street driven application.

Thanks in Advance

I dunno about this guy, he doesn't sound terribly bright... he doesn't even understand the workings of a torque converter, I don't know how much of what he says I would believe. To answer your question, YES go with the TransGo reprogramming kit. It fixed numerous problems inherent with the 700R4, such as the clumsy 3-2 downshift. It holds 2nd gear longer for better throttle response around town. Hell, it does so much good stuff that I can't remember it all. About the TC, the stall speed is the RPM at which (theoretically) the converter is transmitting full engine torque through the transmission. Think of a higher stall converter like this: a manual transmission with the clutch being let out more slowly. The RPMs rise higher then they would if you were to abruptly let the clutch out, but they build to a higher RPM, giving you additional thrust off the line.

After rethinking the situation about this guy I decieded to get another transmission and get rid of this one all together because it's a 84 w/27 spline and they had problems. They was going to charge me $600.00 to install the Transgo (NoNoNo Syskokal) and rebuilt the tranny, its already out of the car. However after good response I think it would be more benefitial if I just buy a complete trans. Now I guess my next option will be to get a Pro-built Tranny and a 3000 A.C.T. Stall Converter.
Which one will benefit my application the most the Heavy Duty or Street/strip trans?
Remember that I want it to be streetable, but with performance and durability.
