Rebuilding questions??
I have a 700r4 trans that I disassembled yesterday. My problem is the clutch counts are differnt. I bought the TCI master kit from summit. Here's a example of what im talking about:
Stock 3-4 clutches=6
Tci 3-4 clutches=9
I Know more clutches have more holding power but,now when I put the final large retainer ring back on all the clutches are pack together solid. As a matter of fact with the 3-4 clutch pack its like a whole steel + clutch to much in size (.099 to much). The foward clutches are having the same type of problem. (about .040 to much!) If I leave a clutch & steel out It fits inside with no problem. Does anyone have a clue as to whats going on?

Sounds like the parts are for the 1987 & up. As yours is the 1986, the forwards, reverse input, are different in thickness of the clutch & steel. Try calling them on this, and get the right parts, or you are going to have problems big time.
