The gear selector on my 1992 Camaro RS with automatic doesnt seem to be working properly. The transmission shifts fine into gear, but the display does not show the correct gear, I don't think it lock into gear either,but it might. Is this a serious problem or fairly easy to fix with a replacement cable or cheap part?

Well, I figured it out. I finally got the car up on jacks and what did I find? I was missing one transmission pan bolt and the one right next to it was loose! These were the 2 bolts that hold the shift cable in place! Looks like I solved both my problems at once, now where do find the bolt?

 

on the ground....sorry had to say that lol

 

heh heh, yeah. I just got the car so it isn't on any of my ground I went out to Fleet Farm and got the bolt (8mm standart thread).
