T5 help

I've been hearing a whine in my driveline for as long as I've had the car. It only makes noise when you mash the gas. Release it and it goes away. I've already checked the rear end and changed the driveshaft. A couple days ago I blew the rear seal on the tranny. Today when I took out the old seal to change it I noticed I could move the driveshaft yoke up and down in the tranny. Well, If that is normal, cool. If not, I plan on changing the output shaft bearing. Hopefully it will fix that whine. My problem is I don't really want to pull the tranny. Can I change the bearing with the tranny still in the car? If so, how?
