how many spline axle on a 87 rearend
what is the number of splines on a 87 rear end

Axle/Gears: Ford 9"/31 spline spool/4.86
If it's a 10 bolt then it's 26 spline. 28 spline didn't come standard issue until 1990 although there might be a few 1989's around.

i just picked up a 10 bolt posi disc rear with 3.73gears for $200 and it looks like it was just rebuilt
the guy i baught it from thought it was a 3.42 and thats what i wanted but when i got it home and got out my calulater to see that a 41 tooth ring and 11 tooth pinion gear was and to my delight it was 3.73
