I need a torque arm bushing!
I looked at 4 different part stores and the dealership and nobody had one in stock. I saw that places like Jegs and Summit have the poly bushing - has anyone used one? Simple to install? Worth the money?
Good stories? Horror stories?

Have it, haven't installed yet (maybe this weekend). Buddy has it, as well as poly tranny mount.
Horror story? GM made two different types: torque arm lips facing towards the tranny, and lips facing away from tranny. Only way to know which you've got is to crawl under there and look.

I have one and it did make a difference.
You'll have to get under and look to see which one you need.
Like five7kid said, there are two different types, depending on which torque arm you have. My trans mount and motor mounts are all solid steel.
Pretty easy to install, too.

The stock torque arm's trans end is shaped like a "W".
The lip term refers to the open-end of the W shape...rotate the W 90deg to the left, and you have a "lips facing outboard" design, rotate the W 90deg to the right and you have a "lips facing inboard" design.

Mine I think is set up the same way it's like "E O" - the "E" being a poor design for the torque arm. So this is the lips facing away from driveshaft, correct. Why did GM use three different design T/A's? Is one stronger than the other...I did notice that the mounts that face away from driveshaft were used until 96....

I used one for a while, it was reasonably simple to install and definitely worth the money. Like th eother posts say, there are different types of them, look at yours before you order, there's no magic codes you can decode to tell you which one your car has. You could even buy all possible types (there are actully 3) and return the one(s) you don't use.
