Now I know I have a tranny problem.....plese help ASAP

Ok so here's what's happening with my freshly rebuilt 700R4.
When I'm cruising down the highway, usually around 40 mph, but also sometimes in other gears, I hit the RPM range of 1500-2000 and the car bogs down really bad. It feels like I'm taking my foot off the gas and the RPM's drop by like 500-700. Once I get above 2000 RPM's it seems to be ok again, but I'm not sure. I don't know if this is normal, but I'll mention it anyway, I just installed 3.42 gears also and at about 70 mph I'm turning about 2500-2700 RPM's. I don't know if that's high or not because I've always had stock gears before this.
After taking about a 10 minute trip today I went under the car to try disconnecting the 4-pin connector that goes into the trans and the pan was so hot that I burnt myself!! I've already tried readjusting the tv cable like 5-10 times with no success and when I disconnected the connector the problem didn't go away.
Please help me!! I can't drive my car now till this is fixed because I don't want to burn up my new trans.

The car also has a tendency to drop really low in the RPM range at idle despite me raising the idle screw. I think this may be related to my other problem but I'm not sure. For the love of *** someone please help me!!!

i think that your 70mph rpm is a bit high, i have 3.73's and thats about what i am turning, i can't be sure though cuz we never got the speedo gears changed

Well I'm giving in and taking it to a tranny shop tomorrow and I can't even wait there while they work on it because I have to go to work. I hate other people touching my baby!!

Yesterday I replaced the throttle cable and reset the tv cable...no help. Then I went under the car to disconnect the 4-pin connector after about a 10 minute ride home from the gym and the tranny pan was so hot I burnt my hand on it!!! That definately can't be a good sign. After removing the connector I still had no change in my problem.
Any other suggestions before I take it to the shop tomorrow??
