Will this Create Some Kneck Snapping Shifts??

I had planned for a cam/intake swap this summer but with the purchase of a new car, money is tight. I should be able to get my vette servo and .500 boost valve installed though. I realize most of the tranny experts advise against the .500 , but I really need to firm up my shifts, and it's a temp fix. I had a rebuild last summer, not a perfomance rebuild. So I figure if I can fix my slipping 1-2 shift temporarily with those 2 mods I'll be happy, till next time and I'll get the TransGo. So, you guys think I'll be able to at least chirp tires in 2nd with posi?

It should help the 1-2 as well as the 2-3 shift, as long as the 2-4 band is still in good shape.

Do i have to ave a shift kit to chirp the tires through 1-2 and 2-3 shifts? My car does that and when it shifts it whips ya back a little. Anyone know if the person before me might have put in a shirft kit

I'd check your TV cable adjustment. Do a search for it.

i found this out serendipitously today with my sloppy seconds 700R4. A tranny cooler will do wonders for your shift quality. After i put it in, my transmission would do something other than just slipping between the shifts and roasting the fluid. Now it actually does something resembling a shift and id say a full 75 percent of the power now makes it to the weels. Clutch packs still slip some but oh well.

Well my stock tranny has the 68,XXX original miles on it, and i just started testing the durability of the car and i found out if i manualy shift the gears from first to second at around 4,800 rpm the cars chirps the tires a bit. So i guess i have a fairly healthy tranny. I recently looked at the tranny fluid and its alittle brown (not too dark at all) so i think i need a tranny flush with a tranny filter. This is my only car and will be my daily driver.

I would say if your car chirps 1-2 and 2-3 you most likely have a shift kit.

brown fluid w/ a burned smell signals that your trans has been running way too HOT! Check your cooling system and consider getting a tranny cooler. Mine actually got rid of most if not all of my problems (i live in an area w/ lots of stop and go traffic so heat is a problem in the summer).

my dad's 88 iroc has one of those "other" non-transgo valve body kits, and it has tire chirping shifts and neck shapping shifts. it now also has a broken engine mount.

coincidence?

'nuff said.

Well my tranny shifts great, but i think the fluid has not been changed for some while, so i think i need to change it soon, the fluid is just alittle darker than normal; it doesnt smell that bad i dont know whats a bad smell or not.
