All you'll need is the B&M change over kit for $70 bucks or so.
You'll get to keep the stock drive shaft & crossmember. It's only an issue if you had a 700R4.
TH-350 can handle LOTS more torque then a 200C.
A stock 350 can handle more torque than a 700, & at a 4th of the price. Your going to hear crap from the 700 crowd about no over drive yada yada. **** I had a 91 Grand Am with no OD. **** my '82 & your '82 had no OD
I would say a medium build TH-350 can handle anywhere from 400-500FPT.
A 200C maybe 275FPT, and there's no beefed up after market parts.
Good Luck,
Ron

I did the same swap when my 200 died. If you have the cash it's a good idea. Th-200c's will die in a tricycle. It's not difficult to swap them. Crossmember works, and so does the driveshaft. You'll need a swap kit made just for this available from jegs or summit to allow you to mount the torque arm onto the th-350. I had a tranny shop build me a th-350 and they did the swap along with a swap kit I got made by B&M. They didn't complain about it. I did see something that looks like fitting adapters for the fluid cooling lines. Don't know for sure if there is a problem there or not. In hindsight I wish I had put in a overdrive. I thought it would be too difficult but it's not too bad, but harder than going to a th-350. Something else to consider anyways.
