V8 t5 speedo

Im looking to buy a t5 from an 88 iroc for my vette. What year did they start using a vss on the tranny? I think firebirds were late 80's and camaros later, but im not sure.

Guess i'll have to get a vss too.

Ive heard of 2 other people using a t5 and a t56 in their vettes. Ive got most of it figured out.

Clutch/brake pedals for a vette.
Clutch hydrualics, bellhousing for a vette.
Corvette flywheel
Iroc clutch and pressure plate
iroc T5
Trim the top and side of the cbeam on the vette to clear the back and shifter on the t5 and bolt it via the bottom of the cbeam, drill a new hole if needed.
Heres a shof of the cbeam, its bolts to the top of the tranny also.

This is probably going to interfer with the rear of the t5 so i'll cut it for clearence.

Driveshaft should be almost the right length already, maybe an inch too long.

Then just cut a hole in the floor, rig something up for the console and hook up some wires.

The i'll beat the crap out of the auto and set it on fire..(JK) I hate that thing.

i'm assuming the super T10 (4+3 vette tranny) bellhousing will bolt right up to a T5 if thats what your planning on using

if it doesnt i would just use a camaro T5 bellhousing and hydraulics

i got mine very cheap....................$60 for the hydraulics and bellhousing

i've heard that the T56 into a vette is VERY complicated.......
i heard the T5 though is almost a direct bolt in

(i press post and it only posted 1/2 my message)

i'm not sure if a super T10 (4+3 vette tranny) bellhousing will fit a T5

if not, just use a camaro T5 bellhousing and hydraulics

i got mine cheap

i think i paid $60 for the hydraulics and bellhousing

good luck

I actually would like to use the camaro bellhousing and hydraulics, but i think the camaro master cylinder has a much longer rod on it, would you happen to know the travel length of it?

Have you put yours in your car yet? If you could give me the total travel length and the length the rod sticks out of the master cylinder that would be great.

well heres 2 pictures i found a super 10 bellhousing

And a t5

They look the same to me, also on this page im reading, a guy put one in his rx7 and used the super t10 bell housing.

Still i would like to use the camaro stuff, since im having this t5 pulled from an iroc this week and i could grab the rest of the components at the same time.

looks pretty close, BUT if the T10 bellhousing does work, its going to set the tranny on a completely different angle with the shifter further away from you..................................

when i come home tonite i will measure the slave cylinder pushrod

Hey! I have a complete electronic T5 sender/VSS from an 88' formula t5, and I need a mech one for my car (87' iroc), my trans is in my car, but the speedometer is not functional as I am having some trouble finding a mech sender assy. Any chance you would want to even swap me for it? (electronic vss/sender for the mech one that will be on that trans when you pull it) I think this would solve both of our problems? Let me know!

Im not sure what the rear is, i'll find out when i go look at the the car tommorow. Its still all in one piece.

My car has a 3.07 rear end, This iroc probably has a 3.08. Is there a gear on that unit that i could just replace and still use the vss part? Im not sure how it works exactly.

If i could use the irocs gear and your vss that would probably be the best solution.
