83 t-5
83 t-5
Was the 83 5-speed a hydraulic clutch or a manual? What are the advantages/disadvantages to this? Is it more difficult to find performance clutches, etc. for this transmission. Thank you.

Clutches are identical. They do not care what is pushing on them.
I put a hydraulic system in my 83, it is much better than the mechanical one. I re-used the clutch that was there (it was nearly new at the time).

how do you make a car that originally came with a z-bar manual clutch transmision into a hydraulic one? What parts are needed, is it hard? How do i check if the transmision allready has it done? Thank you

You need the bell housing, because the slave cylinder bolts to it; the hydraulics; and the entire pedal assembly. You can easily get all these out of a junk car, just look for a v8 RS or some such in the boneyard.
You do not have to change anything about the clutch; the flywheel; or the trans itself.
