normal or symptom?
I've been battle a tranny problem lately and noticed something tonight that I don't know whether it is normal or parallel condition to the problem that I've been having. Tonight I noticed that if I am going at least over 30mph while in Drive and slowly start to come to a stop, it will downshift it self at about 18-20mph and will make a physical and audible clunk, nothing major though, just noticable. But when I do the same exact thing in 0D, no noise, no clunk. I tried it repeated times and got the same thing, ONLY in Drive. Here's a couple links to the problems that I've been having with it. Can anyone let me know if this is normal or might be connected to the on going problem that I've been having.

i'll take a few guesses, but they're just that because i don't know much. check the converter lock up, tv cable ,trans mount. as for the temp if you can hold your hand on it it's 125 *f or so if you can touch it and say "damn that's hot" and not really get burnt it's around 150*f. i think 175 or so is the magic number for trans temp.

ive had a few th350 trannies with the downshift clunk noise.
they always operate fine otherwise. the 700r4 does it a tiny bit in the 84 camaro and it did it more in the 79 G20 350/th350 van i had recently.
