Need help with servo cover!!!....
ok, I am in the midst of installing a Trans go shift hit, and part of the instructions have to do with the servo assembly, so here is the deal, and sorry if it is kind of long. The instructions say to remove the snap clip that holds the little plat onto the inside of the servo piston and then take out the pink spring... after that they say to instal 6 washers (3 thin and three thick) and re-assemble the entire servo assembly. You are then suposed to check to see if the 2-4 band is engaged, and remove wahsers until the band can just wiggle back and forth. After that it says the remove one final thin washers and then re-assmble the servo and leave it. Well my problem is that I am unable to get the cover for the servo assembly back on, it won't go in far enough no matter how far I push on it like it is getting caught on something. Also, when I am trying to do this, the band is engaging and won't budge. To the best of my knowledge everyhting is aligned properly and I still can't get it to work even with ZERO washers... anyone have any ideas.....
Earlier than this when I was doing work to the tranny side of the valve body a small cylindrical pin (about 5/8" diameter) fell out of the tranny, in order to get the pin back in, I had to push the 2-4 band over towards the inside of the tranny in order to get it to line up with whatever it is that it sits into, now the pin seams as if it sits off the seat sort of at an angle like it didn't go in all the way, could this have anything to do with it, it is almost unnoticable, but still stick out none the less.
THANKS for any help that you guys can give!

Thats a tough one to answer over the internet.
That pin on the bottom of the trans is the band anchor pin, it does look a little sideways in the case but it should not stick out of the case at all. It almost sounds like the anchor is not in the band mount. Next time check the band anchor and servo pin engagement before completely assembling the trans.

My servo cover was really hard to get back on. I think in your situation you'd want to make sure the shims aren't too thick, causing the pin to pinch the band before you even get the cover on.
I made a "press" out of a bar clamp and some steel I had laying around. Basically I used the bar clamp in reverse and pushed the cover on with the clamp against the frame rail. I wouldn't try anything like this until you know your shims are right.

should I try to put the servo pin back in and then the anchor to see if I can get it in that order, or should I first try to make sure the anchor is in correctly and then go from there... one of my friend's mentioned that he had to grind the pin on his down when he did his servo, but I don't want to do any unnecisary changes

This may or may not be in the instructions but here it goes.
Take the big O-ring off the servo cover and put it on as you would if you were assembling it for good. There should be enuf room to put the cover snap ring on. If not, I guess you gotta take some shims out or grind the pin down. I've never shimmed a servo before so I can't tell ya which one to do.
hope this helped

First, make sure that the anchor pin is in right, second, "do not install any seals when checking for band clearance", third, install the servo back to "stock" and go from there. If you have any questions call me at 800 7763288 M-S 10-6 PST. I hope this helps?
