My Stock 82 Z28 tranny is shot and I have a TH350 to replace it. What problems should I look for when swapping????

Thanks

No problems at all, your drive shaft will fit perfect- you will need to get the bracket or make one for the torque arm to fit and relocate the tranny mount back about 2" and you are ready to go.
Ive been running 10" for three years with a stock rebuild and a small tranny cooler.

Just some hard-to-move trans-to-engine bolts, that's all. Use 1/2 inch drive tools, not 3/8" drive stuff. When I swapped my dead 700r4 for a good one, I tried using a long (as in 20 inch) 3/8" extension. Well the thing was so thin it was twisting and "absorbing" my efforts... it took me two hours to break two bolts free! I thought Lee Myles (previous trans guys) torqued them to hell. Next day, my dad suggested we get 1/2" stuff; he ran me down to Sears, we bought a 1/2" drive 20 inch extension, and a 1/2" drive 7" extension, and a 1/2" drive socket. We get back home, and I got the rest of the bolts out in under an hour!! I had to use a 1/2" universal (swivel) for some bolts. The way I did it, I assembled the extensions and swivel (if needed) so I was working the breaker bar by the tailshaft of the trans- plenty of room to swing a wrench.

Good luck... oh and flush the trans cooler lines before you hook them up to the new trans. If any old metal fillings from the 200C are in the factory trans cooler lines, they'll wind up in your new trans!!

did the exact same thing....but all by my self. so if u can, get some friends who know what they are doing to help you.
i used the b&m kit, but really all you need is the bracket for the torque arm. I tried forever to use the other mounting bracket and the cross member never fit right....then tried it w/o the bracket and wala! it fit's perfectly. Ohh and one other thing, get the speedo gears from the original 200 trans and put them in the 350 trans....or u'll be off about 15 mph. i still havent gotten around to fixing that, and it's been the whole summer now. one thing i did notice is the 350 doesnt have as much kick off the line, and it seems the internal pump takes just a lil more horse power to move then the 200 did. not too noticable, but i could tell. And these tranny's can take a lot more of a beating then the lil girly 200 trans could. im just going to beat on it till i need to rebuild it. but that's all i have to say...took me forever using the school lift and doing it all by myself. hope u have more fun then i did.
