transgo 2/3 kit ??s

Has anybody tried using solder to plug the plate, instead of those little plugs they send with it? I installed a shift technoglys kit in it when we rebuilt it, has never worked right. So it's comming out. Went to the track last sat night, tranny wouldn't shift into 3rd at wot. 6500 is a little out of the power band for me. I tried soldering up an old plate tonight, seems like it worked ok. Just seeing if someone else has tried it. Thanks!

i dunno if that would be the best idea. you'd want a perfect solder job and i dont know if it would handle right in the temps/fluids.

I have never had a problem with the aluminum plugs if they were installed right. Never thought of using solder to block the holes, still the holes would have to be radiused to hold the solder.
