Big problems with clutch change

alright a few weeks ago my clutch went out so me and my dad went in and replaced it, after the job was finished the car would go into gear but the tires would not spin, in the air or on the ground...then the tranny started locking up even while the clutch was depressed so we replaced the tranny....but the tires still wont spin...when we took the old tranny out we checked the clutch and it is installed correctly and the flywheel has been re-surfaced...so i dont know what else the problem would be besides the slave cylinder....because i know the clutch master is sendnig the fluid to the slave and it might not be depressing the clutch far enough...but i need help does anyone know what the problem could be? before i go lose more money... thanx for any help (oh in the air the tires spin slowly but wont accelerate at all)

Either the clutch is installed incorrectly, or it's the wrong parts. The hydraulics can't cause that, they cause the clutch to release, the sorings in the clutch engage it. Something is keeping the pressure plate from grabbing the disc. You should put your old trans back unless there's really something wrong with it, especially if you didn't actually see the other one come out of a V8 car.

What is meant by "trans locking up"?

the trans would go into 1st gear then when it would come outta first it would lock and not go into any gears, then after about 2 hours of working it, it went back to neutral then 1st gear the it would lock again...i cant do anything about my transmission because i went to a junk yard and tehy wont take it back so i screwed that up with my young age, atleast ive learned some things....so you think the clutch must be installed wrong?

pretty logical the your trans didn't break while you were swapping clutches. i'd check the PN and make sure you got the right part, make sure it's instaleld correctly, if you had the hydrolic system open make sure it's bled

Sounds like you maybe forgot something. Throwout fork correct one, how about the pilot bushing. It is strictly a clearance problem, either something is too big or vice versa.

could a flywheel be causing this problem? my dad says he "sanded" it down but before i looked at the flywheel and it looked like a bad rotor with a lot of grooves in it from the bad clutch plate... im dropping the tranny first thing tomorrow morning and im gonna check the part number on the clutch and pressure plate but im pretty sure its the right part my dad is a manager at a parts store so he gets the right stuff but i just need advice on the flywheel...

doesn't sound like the flywheel either, but if it looks like you said you ought to have it resurfaced. it's got to be soemthing you've done since you never had this problem before you started the clutch swap.

yeah im sure it was the clutch because it had no "meat" on it...but the tranny would go into gear then lock into like third then it woudlnt come out at all then wed beat it back into nuetral so we figured something was up with the tranny...but we got a different tranny and it shifts but my tires wont spin when i drop the tranny again im going to re check the clutch to make sure its installed correctly... im just trying ot figure out anything that could cause this before i bolt the tranny back up cause its a pain droppin it over and over...
