Will the universal model work in our cars? I accidently picked up one for the 700-R4 but not the console model

So should I keep it or return it? Will it fit in my console? I don't want to be having to rip up my center console.

Where's the shifter plate? I am talking about the plastic in the car I didn't want to be busting any of that up.
