Re: th350 swap questions
how do i change the speedometer gears?
A: i think only the driven gear needs changed, it slips off the square drive end of the cable
what kinda kickdown cable do i need?
A: you need one from a th350
where can i buy new trans cool lines?
A: any parts store, they won't be prebent. even from gm parts they aren't
where do i take the vacuum from for the modulator? the carb or the manifold?
A: manifold
can i use my 700R4 shifter for now?
A: maybe
can i use the 700R4 shift cable?
A: good chance
how do i adjust the kickdown cable?
A: it's not adjustable
where do i hook the reverse lights?
A: should already be hooked up to the 700r4 shifter
will the torque converter that comes with it work with the 700R4 flexplate?
A: yes
how hard is it to install a shift kit?
A: not real hard and if you need a kick down cable you'll be right there any way
please excuse my little knowledge when it comes to automatic transmissions
A: i don't know anything either and the only stupid question is the one that goes unasked, but we sure do have fun with some of the ones that get asked
thanx [/B][/QUOTE]

The kickdown (detent) cable is adjustable but not in the same way the 700R4's TV cable is.
There's a lock on the cable that attaches to the bracket up at the carb. You unlock it and push the cable back through a bit. Move the throttle to WOT and push the lock down. The cable will click as the throttle is moved to WOT. Release the throttle and the detent cable is now set.
It's kind of hard to describe how the lock works. It's better to just see it.
