how do i tell what tranny??
need some identification help:
how do i look and see what kind of tranny i have?
can i tell if its been rebuilt or replaced?
thanks i would like to know if the previous owner had any work done or if its still got the original, etc...
keep it simple stupid...

Car: 85 IROC
Engine: LB9
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.42
well if its an 86 TPI it should be a 700R4 auto. Decode your VIN and check your RPO codes.
As far as being rebuilt? You might want to look and see if it has a tag on it, some shops tag the pan. You could maybe check to see if the tranny mount has been replaced. Other than that I think the only way is to crack it open.
