Which Steel Driveshaft?

Hey, i was wondering if you guys could direct me to a great driveshaft! I am looking at steel since my engine already is around 450hp and i heard that aluminum ones do not last long after that. I plan on getting the motor "stroked" in the future or some type of forced induction. I only want to replace the driveshaft with one that will take a lot of abuse! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any personal refferences too, thanks.

You get one custom made from 3" x .083" wall tubing. Also get it made with 1350 series yokes.

Any good driveline shop should be able to make one in less than a day.

You'll need to get a 1350 series yoke for the transmission and differential. From what I've been told either S10's or Astro vans have 1350 series yokes.

Check out a company called Denny's Driveshafts. They have many lines for different levels of power and are reasonably priced.

Because those yokes fit the 1350 (larger Spicer style) U-joint, instead of the smaller (Saginaw) one these cars mostly come with.

When you look at the smaller u-joint, usually a 1310 series against a 1350 series, you'll understand why everyone blows out the smaller u-joint under high HP.

Upgrading the u-joints is just more insurance against losing the driveshaft investment.

You can buy nice aftermarket billet yokes but unless you start pushing over 700 hp, the factory ones will work fine. Just buy aftermarket u-joint straps.
