Damn DIp STick

Ok, heres my problem, I jsut dropped the new tranny and rebuild 350 in my 86. The problem is i forgot to put the transmission dip stick in. I know I should beable to still put it in, but the damn thing just won't go in. Any tips on how to make this painstaking task (which shouldn't be this hard) any easier.

Oh, me thinks it really should be that hard. When I pulled the tranny on my formy, I went under the car to guide it into the tranny, while my buddy fed it down between the firewall and the engine from above.

guess I got lucky,
I put mine in through the engine bay, and with just a slight push it went right into place.

Dude, I feel your pain, I HATE putting dipsticks in after the trans is bolted up! easiest way I've found to do it, is drop the crossmember so the trans is down a little bit, and send it up from the bottom, making sure that when you reach the engine compartment the top is to the passenger side of the heater hoses. With enough jiggling and cursing, it'll eventually go in. Good luck.

no joke

This dipstick does not want to go in for the life of me. I'm about to try and use the dipstick from my other 200c trans. My friend fabricated the tube for this th350 he sold me. He said it does fit in with that rubber gasket.I couldn't get the damn thing in the trans when i had the trans off the car. Bout to put some astroglide on the end of that dipstick, lol
